Sanrio frequently collaborates with designers for one of-a-kind collections such as a line of high- end fine jewelry designed by Kimora Lee Simmons which features real diamond and gold pieces including rings, necklaces and earrings. Other collaborations include a Hello Kitty vans shoes and diaper bags designed by Ju-Ju-Be.


According to We Love Kitty, a Hello Kitty fan site, the brand  is endearing to women of all ages worldwide due to the simplicity and cuteness of Hello Kitty. Originally illustrated without a mouth, the designer Yuko Shimizu wanted people to project their own feelings upon her. Contrary to popular belief, Hello Kitty isn't an actual cat but if British with a sister named Mimmy. Dear Daniel is Kitty's childhood friend.
