The cold, dry winter months can be brutal on delicate facial skin. If you're like me, you may need to add an extra step to your skincare routine.  A good serum can help you add that extra layer of hydration that you need this season.

1. H2O+ Beauty Oasis Moisture Boost Serum

The two main ingredients are sea grass and water lily extracts. There are quite a few pros, after applying this one, my face instantly feels moisturized and it leaves a light, smooth finish without making my face feel tacky or oily. I also love the packaging. Serums in glass bottles always seem just a tab bit fancy. Lol. You will only need 1-2 drops...a little really does go a long way. As for the cons, the only one that I can think of is that it can be a little on the pricey side (if you're on a tight budget) depending on where you decide to purchase it from. It's listed at $38 a bottle on the H2O+ Beauty website, but you can score a bottle for almost $10 cheaper on Amazon.

Tips: Remember to shake it the bottle before using to activate.
Rating: 4 out of 5
Size: 1 Fl oz (glass bottle)
Price: $28.50-$38 (depending on the retailer)

2. Lancome Advanced Génifique Youth Activating Serum
According to Sephora.com, "this potent serum boosts youthful radiance, restoring smoother, more radiant skin you can see and feel in as little as seven days. It’s the first step to every beauty routine, for every age, every skin type, and multiple ethnicities." It is paraben, sulfate and phthalate free and works well on every skin type. You dispense the product from a self-loading dropper and apply in the morning and at night to a freshly cleansed face. This is the most powerful serum that I have personally tried. It made my skin look more refreshed and improved the texture of my skin as well as the areas of my face where my skintone is a little uneven. As for the price tag, if you're hesitant to part with $78 in one fail swoop, I would suggest picking up a sample the next time you're in Sephora and giving it a week long test run.

Tips: Wait 5-10 minutes to let it absorb before applying your moisturizer.

Size: 1 Fl oz (glass bottle)

3. It Cosmetics Bye Bye Lines Serum

I love the light smell of this serum and it provides a slightly warming feeling upon application. It feels super hydrating and you can definitely feel the product absorbing into your skin. It chocked full of powerful ingredients including hyaluronic acid, argan oil, caviar extract, sea water, hydrolyzed collagen and algae. It definitely works on puffy, tired-looking under eye areas, but I can't personally speak to whether or not it improves the appearance of fine lines.

Tips: It works really well paired with the IT Cosmetics Confidence in a Cream Moisturizer
Rating: 4 out of 5
Size: 1 Fl oz

Price: $58

4. Derma E Hydrating Serum with Hyaluronic Acid

This serum is the best bang for your buck! (in my opinion) You get 2 FL ounces of product for a really reasonable price. It absorbs into your skin pretty quickly and dries to a matte finish. The key active ingredient is hyaluronic acid which can hold up to 1,000 times its weight in water..so saying it's hydrating is an understatement! It also contains antioxidant Vitamin C and skin-soothing Allantoin. It left my skin feeling smooth and soft. It is also 100% vegan, cruelty-free, paraben-free, sulfate-free, mineral oil-free, lanolin-free, gluten free, GMO-free.

Tips: I use this one at night because that's when my face needs the most moisture .

5. Derma E Purifying Youth Serum

This one leaves my face feeling really soft and with a slight glow. My skin definitely feels moisturized, which is definitely a plus during the harsh winter months. It absorbs extremely quickly and doesn't leave any tackiness. This serum is aimed at those of us with normal/oily skin so it doesn't leave your skin looking like a greaseball. Like many Derma E products, it contains marine algae and green tea.

Tips: It has a lotion consistency.

6. Pure Body Naturals L-Ascorbic Acid Triple C Serum
This serum is awesome for anyone aiming to brighten and even out their skin tone! This is usually my morning go-to serum. The active ingredient is ascorbic acid, which is a powerful antioxidant that strengthens collagen, assists in brightening, provides anti- wrinkle effects, smoothes skin texture. It comes in a brown bottle to protect the contents from the light. It is a thick formula, so you should apply it with a light hand. It is moisturizing and leaves a slight sheen on your skin so you need to let it absorb completely before applying your moisturizer and makeup.

Tips: It has a light, citrus scent.
Rating: 4.5 out of 5
Size: 1 Fl oz
Price: $33.99

7. Shiseido Ultimune Power Infusing Concentrate

I picked up a trial size using my Sephora points and decided to give this one a two week trial. le I wasn't completely wowed by the results, I did enjoy it. It was very moisturizing (no need to follow-up with a moisturizer,) lightweight and non-greasy. It has a light, pleasant scent and it left my skin feeling very soft.
