A native of Queens, mixtape DJ, Superstar Jay, grew up dreaming of a different kind of ballin’. Upon graduation from high school, he received a full athletic scholarship to SUNY Buffalo. Noticing a lack of talented DJ's at the college, Jay begun to spin at major parties and eventually found himself on the radio.

With thoughts of the NBA long gone, Jay returned back to Queens and made a name for himself by winning a Justo mixtape award and releasing an array of classic mixtapes.

Even with the current oversaturation of the mixtape market, Jay still manages to stand out from the crowd.

The talented turntabalist recently chopped up with Sixshot.com about his steady grind, the mixtape game and his new projects.

You grew up in Queens around DJ and guys of that caliber. Did they have a big influence on you?

Most definitely. DJ Clue is from the same hood as me, just down the block, so seeing him do it was most definitely an influence. You saw Clue in the Sentra and then you saw Clue in the Benz. He was a big influence. It’s still my goal to be at the stature of Clue.
